Could the Apple TV Work as a Local Server for a LLM-Powered Siri?

On the December 26th episode of “Accidental Tech Podcast” there was a discussion about whether or not a future LLM-powered Siri could run locally on a HomePod or if it would need to run in the cloud. I thought this was an interesting question, and while I agree with their ultimate assumption that Apple would most likely will either use the cloud or require an upgrade to a new HomePod version if they launch a LLM-powered version of Siri, I also think that the Apple TV could potentially play a role here.

The macOS Privacy Settings Deleted My Backups

The other day I logged in to my NAS to find that all of my backed up media files were gone. No errors, the drives were fine, the directory was there, but the files were gone. Thankfully it wasn’t a freak out moment as I had my originals and my other backups, but it was a mystery.

Post to Mastodon v2.2 - Bug Fixes and Setup Questions

Another update regarding my Post to Mastodon Apple Shortcut automation, which is now at version 2.2! Yes, I got the Series 2 mid cycle because I got a good deal and I don’t really care enough about potential new features…and yes, I’m going to review it in an effort to reset the nearly year-long content gap on my blog.

An Ode to My Work Laptop

I started at Collective Digital Studio (now Studio71) in 2012 as the month of December awoke from it’s yearly slumber. I was handed a computer. A Macbook Pro Retina. That Retina part was new, as was how thin and light it was. Instantly I realized it was the best computer I had ever used.
