QR Codes Are Bad

We were done with QR codes (pretty much). Do you remember 2019? I think I saw one or two QR codes the whole year, but then 2020 hits, COVID comes in hot, and all of a sudden QR codes are back from the dead in every restaurant. Now, everyone’s talking about that damn Super Bowl commercial.
QR codes are bad.
They do have a purpose, which is to quickly have a computer (usually your phone) do a quick action without having to manually type in something. That works well as a temporary replacement for a menu, but it also works well for opening an exploit or a phishing website, or a humorous but surprising old internet video.
Don’t scan QR codes unless you are absolutely sure that it will take you some place safe and expected.
Don’t make QR codes.
Don’t buy crypto or NFTs if you don’t understand it. Sorry, that one slipped in. It’s good advice though.
